What to do in Koh Lipe, Thailand

Despite its size, Koh Lipe has a lot of attractions and things to do. Some people only go to the island to relax and enjoy the sun. It’s more than enough to remain on the pristine beaches with the ocean in the distance.

How to get to Koh Lipe

What to do in Koh Lipe, Thailand

Koh Lipe is an island, hence the only way to reach there is via boat. Boats depart from Malaysia as well as Koh Lanta, Koh Phi Phi, and Pak Bara Pier. However, you may purchase combination transportation that includes a boat and a van or bus that departs, for instance, from Krabi and Hat Yai.

Please keep in mind that certain islands do not have boat departures from May to October. In order to board a boat, one must go by land to Pak Bara Pier in Satun.

Since Koh Lipe lacks a pier, the boats arrive at a floating boat in the middle of the ocean where they dock. From there, you will still need to board a long tail boat to go to the main beach. As the embarkation occurs at the beach and on the sand, be mindful of the quantity of bags and clothing you bring.

There are daily boats that travel the Lipe-Lankawi route if you’re coming from Malaysia. We hadn’t seen anything like Lipe’s immigration on the sand of any other beach. Regardless of where you are coming from, you will pay the island preservation charge here.

To depart Lipe, you must purchase a boat ticket from one of the stores on Walking Street, ride the taxi boat to the floating ferry, and then board your boat to Pak Bara, another nearby island, or even Lipe itself. It’s more simpler when certain speedboat businesses stop on the beach’s sand.

Where to stay on Koh Lipe

Finding a place to stay on Koh Lipe will be simple since the island has accommodations for all different kinds of tourists. When I first traveled to Thailand alone, I stayed on Pattaya Beach, which is the calmest and most basic beach.

The Family Song Bungalow was selected because it had thatched bungalows that were neat and basic and practically faced the sea. When we visited Koh Lipe again, we decided to stay at the three-star Lipe Beach Resort. Its wooden cottages are situated on Sunrise Beach and face the water.

However, we have compiled a selection of accommodations that will enhance your stay on the island:

  • The Chic Lipe: Given its excellent design and construction, this hostel is among the finest on the island. This is the best choice if you want to take a cheap vacation.
  • Salisa Resort: This is a budget-friendly, three-star motel beside the water. Its accommodations are ideal for a relaxing stay.
  • Bayview Sunset: This is a budget-friendly, three-star motel beside the water. Its accommodations are ideal for a relaxing stay.
  • Idyllic Concept: One of our suggestions has a higher level of elegance and sophistication, making it ideal for people looking for more opulent surroundings and more comfortable days.
  • Akira Lipe Resort: Its four stars speak for itself and show a room with excellent taste. Some of its accommodations feature exclusive access to the pool and a stunning view of the ocean.

The area on the island with the greatest concentration of pubs and eateries is undoubtedly Walking Street. The streets around Sunrise Beach have started to grow more recently, however, and new possibilities have become available.

Another location where you may discover the trendiest, best-decorated beach bars is Sunrise Beach. Even a tree house option exists, which is a great place to unwind in the shade while sipping a beverage.

BungRoon is suggested if you wish to eat seafood that has been barbecued. Nee Papaya Thaifood & BBQ, a restaurant with additional Thai Cuisine alternatives, offers good food at reasonable costs.

Elephant Koh Lipe and The Box both provide munchies like pizza and hamburgers. Speaking of bars, we like Sunrise Beach’s Sea La Vie Bar, which boasts a tree house.

There are three beaches on Koh Lipe: Pattaya, Sunset Beach, and Sunrise Beach. All of them have pristine white sand, clear seas, and a plenty of marine life. Additionally, there are no vehicles there; instead, just a few motorbikes are used to travel between the beaches.

The island’s arrival beach is where the boats dock. There are few places to stay and eat there. Despite this, it boasts beaches and a clear sea where you may go diving and unwind for the day.

Sunset Beach

The smallest beach is on the side where the sun sets and is a bit more secluded. Due to the coast’s division into little beaches, there are not many hotels and almost any stores there. To see the sun’s last descent, go to the location where a stunning beach is between it and Sunrise.

Although the water is clean, we discovered a lot of trash on the beach during our walks. We think these belonged to the visitors who went to witness the sunset but stayed elsewhere. However, if you really explore this shore, you will discover a number of tiny, undeveloped beaches.

The biggest and most picturesque beach on Koh Lipe, with a lovely expanse of sand and a pure blue water. If you stay at a hotel beside the sea, the sun rises on this side, so it’s worth getting up early to see the natural display, even if it’s from your bed.

Additionally, there are a lot of hotels that allow non-guests access to their bars and restaurants. You may also eat, sip a beverage, or spend the day on a sun lounger at other pubs and restaurants.

Around Koh Lipe, there are still a few little beaches that can only be reached by boat or kayak. This implies that in order to reach them, you’ll either need to take a taxi-boat or go on a trip to get to know them.
